Overall Opinion:

Overall, at 2.5 out of 5 stars, DNA Shift Probiotics 50 Billion CFU is just an average probiotic.

I like that you only have to take one capsule daily but it does need to be on an empty stomach or in between meals.

The formula includes NutraFlora, a prebiotic fiber.  I like this because prebiotics help keep the probiotics alive.

This probiotic is also very convenient because you don’t have to refrigerate it.

A few other things I like are that it’s gluten free, NON-GMO, and vegetarian.

All very nice perks!

Now for what I don’t like…

This whole product goes overboard with probiotic strains and cells.

It has 11 strains and 50 billion CFU, that’s very potent (even for a specific ailment!)

Many people think that more is better but it’s just not the case.

Too many of either can actually lead to negative side effects.

Having too many CFUs could lead to an increase in side effects such as abdominal pain, bloating and gas.

Having too many strains in a supplement can actually sometimes lead to them competing with each other.

I actually experienced pretty bad side effects when taking this probiotic.

I had stomach pains and cramping.  Not fun!

This product is also NOT safe for kids.

It states that you should only take it if you’re 18 years or older.

Overall, at 2.5 out of 5 stars, DNA Shift Probiotics 50 Billion CFU is just an average probiotic because it doesn’t have to be refrigerated, is gluten free, NON-GMO, and has a prebiotic but it causes bad side effects, isn’t safe for kids and goes way too overboard with probiotic strains and cells.

The Details:

Ingredients/Strain Profile

DNA Shift Probiotics 50 Billion CFU has 50 billion cells (as the name suggests) and 11 probiotic strains.

Of note, I like the use of Bifidobacterium longum.

This particular strain has been researched to show anti-inflammatory properties that may assist in boosting immune function and protecting your mucous membrane.

B. longum has been researched to show a potential reduction in inflammation that’s associated with inflammatory bowel conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

It may also have other health benefits such as seasonal allergies, weight loss, bone health, gastrointestinal upset, and diarrhea associated with antibiotic use.

I’m actually not a fan of a certain strain that was used, which is Lactobacillus casei.

L. Casei can be rather aggressive and even overrun other friendly probiotics, occupying areas that other probiotics might have taken in the body.

We definitely don’t want that!

Allergy Concerns

The bottle only explicitly states that it’s gluten free.

It doesn’t mention any of the other major allergens such as wheat, soy, lactose, eggs or nuts.

If you’re really allergic to anything other than gluten, I’d steer clear of this probiotic (just to be safe!)

A main allergen that I see in this formula is long grain rice flour.

Many people with stomach issues such as IBS often times have difficulty digesting starches such as rice.

The other ingredient includes: vegetable cellulose (veggie cap)

Price/Value

For 30 capsules, lasting 1 month, it costs $23.95.

This works out to be $0.79 per day to take these.

That is slightly above average as far as price goes.

I think it’s a decent price for the value you get, however I do think there are better options out there.

Side Effects

Yes, I definitely experienced side effects when taking Probiotics 50 Billion CFU.

As I mentioned, this is a very potent probiotic.

Not only that but it states to take the capsule on an empty stomach or between meals.

When I do this, I tend to see more side effects.

While taking this probiotic I had stomach pain, cramps, and bloating.

It didn’t go away until about a week of taking it.

Not fun!

Guarantee

DNA Shift does offer a 100% money back guarantee.

You have 30 days to try the product and if you don’t like it, you can get a full refund.

At first, I had trouble finding their policy.

As a heads up, it’s found in the footer of the checkout page during purchase.

Even though it was a bit hard to find, I’m very happy to see the company offer a 100% money back guarantee.
