Tasty New Ways To Get Probiotics Into Your Diet Part 1
We know that probiotics should be making a regular appearance in our diet in order to get all the remarkable health benefits they yield.
You may be familiar with the big players when it comes to probiotic foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut, miso, kefir, kimchi, tempeh, sour pickles, and sourdough bread.
These are all fantastic choices and are packed with probiotics, but more options are always warmly welcomed.
Especially since I don’t usually sit down to a big bowl of sauerkraut at every meal. :)
I’ve recently been seeing probiotics pop up in unexpected places, such as at the grocery store and in skincare products (but that’s a whole other story).
I’m always fascinated to see where they end up.
I’ve wanted to share some of these unique new products with you and it looks like today is finally the day!
Let’s check out some tasty new products that contain probiotics.
1. YumButter’s Protein + Probiotic blend
Almond butter, who would’ve thought?
YumButter uses allergen-free GanedenBC30 Probiotics.
It comes in a cool little squeezable pouch that you just knead before opening.
It also has 10g of protein per 2 tablespoons.
Studies are also recently showing that probiotics not only help with digestive and immune function, but also help the body absorb amino acids (the building blocks of protein).
This is essential for athletes or just anyone who trains on a regular basis.
Other perks about this product are that it’s non-GMO, gluten free, and organic.
The company also feeds a child in need with every purchase you make.
So amazing!
For 7 ounces, which has 6 servings, it costs $6.99.
2. Purely Elizabeth Maple Walnut Probiotic Granola
Heat and probiotics don’t mix well because the cells are easily killed off with high temperatures.
However, new technology may be allowing probiotics to withstand higher temperatures.
This is where Purely Elizabeth’s baked granola with probiotics comes into play.
It says that for every 1/3 cup serving, it has 500 million CFUs.
It contains GanedenBC30 (Bacillus Coagulans GBI-30 6086), which has a protective spore that is supposed to help keep it safe from heat.
The granola is made with all organic oats, quinoa, millet, and chia.
It’s baked with coconut oil and uses coconut sugar as a sweetener.
Some highlights about the product are that it’s certified gluten free, non-GMO, certified vegan, certified organic, and 130 calories per serving.
The idea behind this product was that the founder, Elizabeth Stein, wanted to create a way to incorporate probiotics into daily life more easily.
Granola is definitely more versatile than sauerkraut on a daily basis. :)
They also have a chocolate sea salt flavor. Yum!
An 8-ounce bag costs $6.99.
3. Suja Pressed Probiotic Water
If you’re looking for a probiotic beverage other than kombucha, there are now some pressed waters and juices available.
Suja’s probiotic water is made with only organic vegetables, fruits, and vegan probiotics. (The ingredient list is incredibly short and simple!)
These waters have 2 billion CFUs in them from the probiotic strain Bacillus Coagulans GBI-30 6086.
One bottle is only 10 calories and 1 gram of sugar or less depending on the flavor you get.
Speaking of flavors, they have: strawberry, raspberry, pineapple lemon cayenne, orange ginger pineapple, and ginger lime.
These waters don’t have any additives and are vegan, kosher, USDA certified organic, non-GMO, dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free.
Suja Pressed Probiotic Water is exclusively sold at Target.
A 14.5 ounce bottle costs $2.99.
A Final Note…
It’s definitely exciting seeing more tasty ways to get our daily probiotics.
Try these new products and see how you like them!
Be sure to stay tuned for part 2 with even more probiotic products.
A word of caution though, since this is a newer area for probiotics, be wary of how many probiotic cells are actually in the product.
Also, don’t forget the best bang for your buck, which are probiotic supplements.
