Overall Opinion:
Overall, at 2.5 out of 5 stars, Nature’s Bounty Probiotic CD Controlled Delivery is an average probiotic.
There are things I like and things I don’t like, but nothing really knocked my socks off to give it a higher rating.
I like that this probiotic uses a 6 probiotic strains, which is a great amount for a gentle, daily probiotic.
It also uses a special delivery system called BIO-Tract that allows the probiotics to survive gastric acids and get through the digestive tract safely in order to release live probiotic cells within the digestive system.
This probiotic is easy to use; you just need to take 1 caplet daily, preferably with a meal.
The caplets are gluten free and safe for vegetarians.
This is a gentle probiotic and I didn’t see any side effects while taking it!
Now for what I don’t like…
These caplets are just no fun. They are a combination of a tablet and a capsule and I tend to only like tablets when they are the small spheres (just because they are SO easy to get down).
The caplets were hard to swallow and they started dissolving while still in my mouth, which is a pet peeve of mine.
Another downside is that this probiotic contains MILK.
That’s a bummer because so many people have a milk allergy.
You also have to refrigerate the bottle after opening, which makes it less convenient and stable.
One last thing is that I appreciate how gentle this probiotic is, but I would’ve liked to see a few more billion CFU to make it ideal for daily use.
I didn’t see any side effects but I also didn’t really see improvement with my IBS symptoms.
Overall, at 2.5 out of 5 stars, Nature’s Bounty Probiotic CD Controlled Delivery is an average probiotic because it’s gentle, has a solid 6 probiotic strains, and uses BIO-tract but it contains milk, needs to be refrigerated and the caplets are not easy to get down.
The Details:
Ingredients/Strain Profile
Nature’s Bounty Probiotic CD Controlled Delivery contains 2 billion cells in 6 probiotic strains.
In particular, I like the addition of Lactobacillus acidophilus in the probiotic strain profile.
It’s one of my favorites and has been used in a great deal of probiotic research studies.
Lactobacillus acidophilus has been shown to potentially relieve the symptoms from Crohn’s disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and gut dysbiosis.
This strain may also help boost immune function, treat yeast infections, and decrease the frequency of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
I also like the use of Bifidobacterium longum in the probiotic lineup.
This strain has been researched to show many potential health benefits such as decreasing seasonal allergies, pathogen infections, gastrointestinal upset, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Bifidobacterium longum may also help with weight maintenance, bone health, and lowering cholesterol.
Allergy Concerns
Nature’s Bounty Probiotic CD Controlled Delivery is fairy allergy friendly.
The big allergy concern that it does have is MILK.
It says that it contains milk ingredients, however in the other ingredients section it doesn’t list anything with milk.
Regardless, if you’re allergic to milk, I suggest choosing another probiotic.
Everything else seems pretty allergy friendly though.
The capsules contain No Sugar, No Starch, No Soy, No Gluten, No Wheat, No Yeast, and No Fish.
This probiotic is Non-GMO and contains No Artificial Flavor, No Artificial Sweetener, and No Preservatives.
As a perk, it’s also suitable for vegetarians.
The other ingredients include: vegetable cellulose, pectin, sodium carbonate. Contains <2% of: guar gum, turmeric (color), and vegetable stearic acid.
Price/Value
For 30 caplets, lasting 1 month, it costs $17.99.
When you break it down, it works out to $0.59 a day to take these.
This ends up being an average price for a probiotic.
I think it’s a decent value for the price but I’d rather spend my money on a probiotic that has a little more CFUs in the formula.
Side Effects
I’m really happy because I didn’t see any sort of side effects while taking Probiotic CD, such as stomach pain or bloating.
Yay!
With only 2 billion CFU, this is definitely a gentler probiotic that’s intended for daily use.
Guarantee
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a guarantee for Nature’s Bounty Probiotic CD Controlled Delivery.
I looked all over their website without any luck.
This is a bummer!
I definitely like when companies can at least offer something for their customers.
