Overall Opinion:
I give NatureWise Daily Care Time Release Probiotics 1.5 out of 5 stars.
I really want to like this probiotic more because it has some great qualities to it, however other more crucial areas fell flat for me.
The few areas that I do like are that it’s formulated to be acid resistant and has a sustained release.
This helps the probiotics survive stomach acid and reach the small and large intestine.
I also like that it has a prebiotic, Fructooligosaccharides (FOS).
Having a prebiotic helps keep the probiotics alive because it acts as a food source for the friendly bacteria.
I like that it’s also non-GMO, vegetarian, and gluten free.
Now for what I don’t like…
I found this supplement to be really hard to swallow.
The pill is a “caplet” and has the shape of a capsule and the consistency of a tablet.
I personally don’t really like tablets and this one is no exceptions.
It’s probably one of the worst tablets I’ve ever tried.
It falls apart so easily and is really chalky.
It started dissolving in my mouth before I could swallow it and it was just hard to get down.
Luckily, you only have to take 1 caplet per day but it’s still a pain.
Another big issue I have is that this supplement just uses WAY too many probiotic strains, in my opinion.
There are 30 different strains and sometimes they can compete with each other.
I’ve tested out countless probiotic supplements and there were strains used that I’ve never tried or even heard of before.
Having this many strains may lead to side effects and I definitely saw side effects when taking this product.
I had a stomachache and bloating and it just wasn’t fun at all.
Not only did I have side effects but also I didn’t see any improvement at all as far as digestive health and function.
This probiotic is for adults only so it’s not safe for children.
If you want to maximize potency and extend the shelf life beyond 18 months, they do suggest storing the probiotics in the refrigerator.
It also says that there may be trace amounts of milk protein from the fermentation process.
If you’re very allergic or sensitive to milk, you may want to be careful with this probiotic.
Overall, I just wasn’t impressed with this probiotic and think there are better options out there for a daily supplement.
The Details:
Ingredients/Strain Profile
Each caplet of NatureWise Daily Care Time Release Probiotics contains 6 billion CFU in 30 probiotic strains.
They guarantee 6 billion CFU at time of manufacture and a minimum of 2 billion CFU at expiration.
I like that Lactobacillus acidophilus is used in the strain profile.
Research shows that this strain may help in a number of different areas including: supporting a healthy balance of good bacteria to bad bacteria, aiding in healthy immune function, maintaining healthy cholesterol levels that are already within a normal range, and produces lactase, which may help with the digestion of dairy products.
Studies also suggest that it may help treat yeast infections and limit urinary tract infections.
Another strain used that I like is Lactobacillus plantarum.
This strain is found in fermented foods such as kimchi and sauerkraut.
Lactobacillus plantarum has been used in research studies that showed improvement with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms such as gas, bloating, and discomfort.
It’s also been shown to help fight off intestinal pathogens and increase immunity.
Allergy Concerns
NatureWise Daily Care Time Release Probiotics is pretty allergy friendly.
The only thing is that it may contain trace amounts of milk protein from the fermentation process.
This product does NOT contain: wheat, gluten, soy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, or shellfish.
Also, the caplets themselves are vegetarian, which is a plus.
The other ingredients include: microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, pectin, sodium carbonate, stearic acid, guar gum, and turmeric.
Price/Value
A bottle of 60 caplets costs $28.95 and will last 2 months.
You only have to take 1 daily, so it comes out to $0.48 per day to take.
This is really affordable for a daily probiotic.
I think it ends up being a decent value for the price, however I would opt for a different daily probiotic because I think there are much better values out there.
Side Effects
I did experience side effects when taking this probiotic.
I had some belly pain and bloating, which wasn’t fun at all!
There’s definitely a lot going on in this supplement as far as probiotic strains go.
There were a few strains that I’ve never heard of before or have tried personally (and I’ve tried a lot!)
I think possibly the combination of new strains along with a high number of strains overall caused the side effects.
I did notice that the side effects lessened after about 2 weeks of taking it daily.
