Overall Opinion:
Nutri-West Total Probiotics is a unique probiotic supplement that sent me on a wild goose chase.
I actually like this probiotic but there are few things I need to address.
Nutri-West products are only available for distribution through a registered health care professional.
I was not aware of this until AFTER purchasing it from Amazon.
After researching quite a bit online and reading through customer reviews, it seems like many Amazon customers received expired products. I also read that Nutri-West doesn’t sell their products online. So there seems to be a real luck of the draw if you happen to get a genuine product or not or if it’s expired.
My entire review is based on the product I got from Amazon (not from a Nutri-West distributor) and my personal experience, but I wanted to put it out there that others have had different experiences.
This probiotic is very potent and has a whopping 70 billion CFU, 7 probiotic strains, prebiotic fiber, digestive enzymes and a fruit and veggie blend.
Normally I’m not a fan of a product this potent but I liked the way I felt while taking them and saw improvements in my IBS symptoms, food allergies, digestion, and normally painful belly bloating and gas.
You just have to take 1 capsule daily, but you do have to refrigerate the bottle after opening.
I would only recommend this probiotic if you have a specific ailment, digestive disorder, or have been on antibiotics and need to restore your intestinal flora.
This definitely isn’t a supplement for casual, daily digestive support and would be too potent or potentially cause unnecessary side effects in those looking for a minor digestive boost.
Overall, I do like this probiotic more than average and saw benefits while taking it.
The Details:
Ingredients/Strain Profile
Nutri-West Total Probiotics have a whole lot going on in them.
The capsules include added ingredients that aren’t normally found in probiotic supplements like digestive enzymes and fruit and veggie blends.
But first, let’s talk about the probiotic specifics. Each capsule has 70 billion CFU and 7 probiotic strains and prebiotic fiber.
I like that they use Bifidobacterium Bifidum because it’s a great probiotic strain for helping with constipation, immune function, Ulcerative Colitis, treating infections, and restoring intestinal bacteria.
They also use another personal favorite of mine, Lactobacillus Acidophilus. This probiotic powerhouse is used to help with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), yeast infections, diarrhea, gut health, and bacterial vaginosis (BV).
The digestive enzyme blend helps you break down food and makes it easier for your digestive tract to absorb nutrients. Some digestive disorders prevent your body from making enough digestive enzymes and can lead to uncomfortable side effects like stomach aches, gas, and diarrhea.
Some of the digestive enzymes include Amylase (breaks down starches and carbs), Protease (works on proteins), and Lipase (handles fats).
The formula also includes Jerusalem Artichoke (a helpful prebiotic), Rose Hips (helps with immune function, prevents UTIs, treats constipation), and Beetroot (aids in lowering blood pressure and improves blood flow).
Allergy Concerns
This probiotic doesn’t have any major allergy concerns.
It does, however, contain a lot of ingredients that aren’t normally found in probiotic supplements.
There’s a veggie and fruit blend added plus digestive enzymes.
The additional ingredients include: Zinc (as gluconate) 0.7 mg, Manganese (as gluconate) 0.6 mg. Proprietary blend 255 mg* of: Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus Tuberosus)(bark), Acerola Extract (Malpighia Glabra)(fruit), Rose Hips (Rosa Canina)(fruit), Beet (Beta Vulgaris)(root), Cellulase (1200 CU*), Protease (7500 HUT*), Lipase (52 LU*), Amylase (275 DU*).
The other ingredients include Microcrystalline Cellulose, Rice Extract, Rice Bran Extract, and Vegetable Gelatin (capsule).
Price/Value
I can only attest to the Amazon price because I can’t find anywhere how much it’d be to go through the Nutri-West program with a health professional or provider.
I bought mine on Amazon for $49.01 and it comes with 120 capsules.
If you take 1 capsule daily, it works out to be 41 cents per day.
That price is super affordable and less expensive than your average probiotic.
I think the Amazon price is a good value for the money, as long as you’re getting a genuine product and it isn’t expired (which can be hard to tell).
Side Effects
I’m really surprised because I didn’t have any side effects while taking this probiotic.
Usually potent probiotics like this one lead to some sort of uncomfortable side effects.
I have seen on different sites online that they suggest 1 to 2 capsules 3 times daily.
This is a VERY different dose.
They don’t list directions anywhere on the bottle but on the Nutri-West website it says take 1 capsule daily or as directed by a health professional.
I only ever took 1 capsule daily, so I’d suggest that route or at least starting off with just 1 and see how you do.
Guarantee
I can’t find any sort of guarantee on the Nutri-West website.
They may offer some sort of guarantee if you buy through one of their registered health providers.
I bought mine on Amazon and they don’t have a guarantee either, but it looks like they offer free returns for it.
