Overall Opinion:

I give Accuflora Advanced CD Probiotic Supplement 1.5 out of 5 stars.

This supplement just doesn’t offer what I’m looking for in a quality probiotic.

Let me go through my thoughts and experience with you.

First off, you have to take 2 caplets daily (and up to 4).

I’m a big fan of 1 and done so having to take multiple was a pain.

The caplets are also a little hard to get down at times.

I would say they’re more of a traditional tablet.

Second, you’d think with taking 2-4 caplets per day that you’d be getting a diverse, potent dose of friendly bacteria.

Wrong.  You only get a mere 1 billion CFU per serving.  And even worse, the CFU is only guaranteed at the time of manufacture.

AND it says it’s best to refrigerate after opening, another downfall for me.

So that takes me into the third point, I just didn’t see any real difference after taking these for awhile.

I bumped it up to 4 capsules daily because I need more support due to having digestive issues and IBS.

They suggest it’s good for daily support and after taking a round of antibiotics.

I was definitely disappointed because there was no real benefit from these.

Perhaps if you don’t have a digestive disorder it may work better.

However, this product is VERY inexpensive.  I’m all about a bargain but I feel like you get what you pay for in this particular case.

It does use a protective gel layer that says it helps with up to 12 hours of controlled support.

That’s what CD stands for in the name: Controlled Delivery.

It does have 5 beneficial and highly researched probiotic strains, which is a definite plus.

But I like to see 6-8+ strains for optimal diversity.

Overall, this just isn’t a winner in my beneficial bacteria book.

On to the next one!

The Details:

Ingredients/Strain Profile

Each serving of Accuflora Advanced CD Probiotic (2 caplets) has 1 billion CFUs and 5 probiotic strains.

All 5 strains are very well known and researched in the probiotic world.

Lactobacillus salivarius is one of the most prevalent in human saliva (yum).

This friendly bacterium creates organic acids like acetic and lactic acid that are antibacterial and help prevent harmful pathogens from growing.

Lactobacillus salivarius stimulates the immune system, promotes dental health, stimulates liver function, and may help combat dermatitis and GI inflammation.

Studies show that it’s beneficial for obesity and significantly reduced “bad” (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides, while raising “good” (HDL) cholesterol.

Another strain I like is Lactobacillus rhamnosus.

Research shows its various health benefits such as treating and preventing gastro-intestinal infections and diarrhea and stimulating immune responses.

It boosts immunity by helping fight viruses, fungi, bacteria, respiratory infections, and parasites.

Its also been shown to help with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), ulcers, asthma, and inflammation.

Allergy Concerns

Accuflora Advanced CD Probiotic Supplement does have an allergy concern.

These caplets contain MILK.

So keep that in mind if you’re allergic or sensitive to milk.

The caplets contain some added ingredients that I’m not a huge fan of.

Here’s a list of everything that’s included in this supplement:  Microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, pectin, guar gum, silica dioxide, stearic acid, and turmeric.

Price/Value

I bought a bottle of 72 caplets on Amazon for $5.89.

You can take either 2 or 4 caplets daily, so it winds up being $0.16 – $0.32 per day to take these.

No matter if you take 2 or 4 daily, the daily cost is incredibly cheap!!

These are some of the lowest priced probiotics I’ve tried.

I love myself a good bargain but unfortunately the quality matched the price…cheap. L

I suggest springing for the higher quality probiotic because this one wasn’t worth it to me.

Side Effects

I didn’t experience any side effects from this probiotic supplement.

They’re incredibly gentle, but almost too gentle.

What I mean is they aren’t very potent, so although I didn’t have any negative side effects I didn’t have any benefits either.

Which is a major problem because I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and depend on the friendly bacteria in probiotics to help ease my symptoms.

So I was left with no help from these caplets.

Guarantee

I bought these on Amazon but they’re available other places online like VitaCost or at Walmart.

I couldn’t find any type of guarantee, though.

So that’s a bummer!

Fortunately, they’re super cheap so at least you’re not out a pretty penny if you don’t like it.

But I really do wish they had some sort of policy in place for their customers.

You might be able to return them depending on where you buy them from, so be sure to check first.
