Overall Opinion:

Overall, at 3 out of 5 stars, I think BioGaia ProTectis Probiotics is a slightly above average and unique probiotic.

One of the most interesting and appealing things about this probiotic is that the tablets are chewable!

This was a new experience for me taking chewable probiotics but I thought it was very convenient.

It’s great for adults and kids who either can’t or don’t like swallowing pills.

I also like that you only have to take one chewable tablet a day, making it nice and easy to take.

You also don’t refrigerate these so it makes it super convenient and more stable.

As another perk, the live cells are guaranteed all the way to the expiration date on the bottle.

So the few things I don’t like about this product…

Even though the tablets are an awesome convenience, they could definitely taste better.

They are a lemon-lime flavor but just don’t taste that great.

Chalky, bad piece of candy is what comes to mind.

This probiotic also may contain trace amounts of milk protein.  So if you have milk allergies, please be aware!

Lastly, there is no satisfaction guarantee for this product.

Overall though, I think it’s a very unique product and is very convenient, needing no refrigeration or even water since it’s a chewable tablet but keep in mind it may contain milk and it doesn’t taste like sweet candy.

BioGaia ProTectis Probiotics has 100 million cells within one probiotic strain.

The single strain used in the supplements is Lactobacillus Reuteri DSM 17938 (L. reuteri Protectis).

I like the use of this strain because it has been researched to show possible benefits such as boosting the body’s immune functions, having antimicrobial properties and helping ward off infections.

This strain may also help prevent diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, and constipation.

Lactobacillus Reuteri has been studied to potentially help balance out the body’s bacteria levels and help keep the bad bacteria in check.

This particular strain has been studied with both children and adults and has been generally seemed safe.  However, always check with your child’s doctor before having them take a new supplement.

Allergy Concerns

BioGaia almost hits all the marks when it comes to being allergy friendly.

But a BIG no no is that it may contain trace amounts of milk protein.

When this is listed in the ingredients, it’s hard to tell how much there actually is.

If you have severe milk allergies, please be careful with this probiotic or opt for one that is 100% dairy free.

The other ingredients in these chewable tablets are:  Isomalt, xylitol, palm oil, lemon-lime flavoring, and citric acid.

It costs $29.99 for a 30-tablet bottle.

This ends up being about $0.99 a day to take this probiotic.

Any probiotic that is a dollar or more a day is pretty pricey.

So this probiotic comes in above the average price range.

Side Effects

I didn’t experience any negative side effects while taking ProTectis.

I was happy because I was good to go from the very beginning.

There are only 100 million CFUs in these tablets, which is on the gentler side.

This may be why I didn’t see any harsh side effects.
