Overall Opinion:

I’m a big fan of Rainbow Light products and I actually take their women’s multvitamin every day.

So I had high hopes when I got my hands on their probiotic gummy.

Sadly, Probiolicious Probiotic Gummies didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

I ended up rating it 2 out of 5 stars.

I’ve honestly yet to find a probiotic gummy that really “wows” me and checks all the marks for an effective probiotic.

I adore the idea of a yummy gummy (and usually opt for gummy supplements when I can) but they really fail to be diverse and powerful enough to give any solid results.

Let’s start out with what I like about them first.

The gummies themselves are a delicous berry flavor and they’re a subtle sweet that isn’t overpowering.

They’re about the size and shape of Dots candy but easier to chew and they have little sugar crystals stuck on them.

The gummies are shelf stable so you don’t need to refrigerate them, making them hassle free and convenient.

I did notice that when I got to the last 10 or so gummies, they started to harden up a bit.  So make sure you store them in a cool, dry place, away from any heat or direct sunlight.

I like that they’re safe for kids!

The suggested usage for children ages 4-12 is one gummy daily.  And ages 13 and older are to take 2 gummies daily.

The gummies are made with natural colors and flavors and don’t have any artificial sweeteners or preservatives.

Now let’s talk about what I don’t like.

My main issue with this probiotic is that it just really lacks diversity and potency.

I think gentle probiotics have their place but this one only has one probiotic strain and only 1 billion CFU.

At best, it really would only be useful for a healthy someone who doesn’t have any specific ailments and just has occasional, minor upsets like gas or bloating.

And on top of that I’m not a big fan of the strain used, Bacillus coagulans.  They also have 3 prebiotic fibers (vs just one main probiotic) and too many prebiotics can lead to uncomfortable side effects.

I also think it’s really expensive for the product you’re getting.

It works out to $32.39 total for taxes and shipping (4-8 business days) and only a 25-day supply.

Overall, you’re paying a premium price for a product that doesn’t offer premium probiotic care.

The Details:

Ingredients/Strain Profile

Rainbow Light Probiolicious Probiotic Gummies has 1 billion CFU per serving (2 gummies) and comes in 1 strain.

Bacillus coagulans is the strain that they use.

Studies show that B. coagulans may help support the digestion of lactose in dairy products and help with belly pain and bloating associated with inflammatory bowel disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

It’s also thought to help boost immune function, balance out bacteria levels, and help with occasional constipation, diarrhea, and gas.

Unfortunately, I’m not the biggest fan of this strain.

It may bring about spores within the body.

The spores then can lead to some uncomfortable side effects like stomach pain, bloating, diarrhea, and gas.

Probiolicious Probiotic Gummies includes a 3-part prebiotic blend including Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), Xylitol, and Inulin.

These are special dietary fibers that feed the beneficial bacteria in the body and are resistant to cold, heat, acid, and time.

They also may help soothe digestive disorders and inflammatory bowel diseases.

I find it interesting that they use so many prebiotic fibers and only include one probiotic in the formula.

I really wish these gummies were more diverse in friendly bacteria and had higher CFU to make it a more beneficial and effective supplement.

Allergy Concerns

Probiolicious Probiotic Gummies are gluten-free and milk/dairy-free.

They do contain gelatin and beeswax, so they’re not vegetarian and vegan friendly.

There’s also 1 g of sugar and 75 mcg of Stevia (leaf) per serving.

The other ingredients include: water, cane sugar*, citric acid, lactic acid, tartaric acid, natural glazing agent (vegetable oil, beeswax), natural color (black carrot), and natural flavor (cranberry).

*Adds a negligible amount of sugar.

A quick overview of the supplement facts per serving (2 gummies):

Calories:  16

Total carbohydrates:  4 grams   (<1% DV)

Sugars:  1 gram

Protein:  0.5 g    (1% DV)

Sodium:  <1 mg    (<1% DV)

Price/Value

A bottle of 50 gummies costs $22.99 on the Rainbow Light website.

You also have to add on 4 – 8 business day shipping for $7.95 and tax for $1.45.

So it ends up being $32.39 out the door.

You take 1 gummy daily so each bottle has 25 servings.  That makes it a daily cost of $1.30, which is definitely on the pricier end.

I feel like gummies usually run higher but this one lacks CFU and strain diversity.

So I don’t think it’s worth the higher price tag.

If you’re interested, they have a few pop-ups on their site; if you subscribe to their email list, you can get 15% off your first order.

But overall, I don’t think it’s a good price for the value you get.

Side Effects

I didn’t have any side effects while taking these gummies.

Just be careful to not exceed the recommended dose of 2 gummies daily.

B. coagulans is the strain they use and it can cause icky side effects if you take more than the allotted amount like belly pain, gas, and bloating.

There’s also 3 grams of prebiotic fibers, which is more than I typically see and too many prebiotics can lead to these same side effects.

So even though the gummies are yummy, don’t be tempted to take a handful!
